INAUGURATION OF IE



STUDENT CHAPTER

Student chapter of Institution of Engineers (India) was inaugurated in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering on 11th July. The Institution of Engineers (India) is the first professional body to represent India in several International Bodies, such as the World Mining Congress (WMC), the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), the Commonwealth Engineers’ Council (CEC), the Federation International du Beton (fib), and the Federation of Engineering Institutions of South and Central Asia (FEISCA). It also has bilateral agreements with a number of professional societies across the globe. The Institution of Engineers (India) functions with and amongst the professional engineers, academicians and research workers and provides a vast array of technical, professional and supporting services to the government and the industries along with the academic and engineering communities.


Dr. T. Chandrashekar, Principal welcomed the gathering and addressed students about the importance of the society IE (I). Prof. Razak, Advisor felicitated the chief guest. Er.P.R.Seshadri, Chairman of IE (I), Tamilnadu State Centre inaugurated the student chapter and had delivered valuable speech regarding benefits of being a member of IE (I), events conducted and awards presented by IE (I).

He encouraged students to elicit innovative projects and also advised to enrich in technical knowledge, develop communication skills by participating in various programs such as seminars, symposia, workshops etc., to emerge successful in campus placement drives. Dr.N.K.Mohanthy, Head of Department, Electrical and Electronics Engineering delivered vote of thanks.
Inauguration of IEEE Student Chapter
IEEE is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community through IEEE's highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities. IEEE stands for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Over the decades that followed, with IEEE’s continued leadership, the societal roles of the technologies under its aegis continued to spread across the world, and reach into more and more areas of people’s lives. The professional groups and technical boards of the predecessor institutions evolved into IEEE Societies. By the early 21st Century, IEEE served its members and their interests with 38 societies; 130 journals, transactions and magazines; more 300 conferences annually; and 900 active standards.

Student chapter of IEEE was inaugurated in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering on 14th September 2012. A.Viswanathan, Dean and Head of Department, Electronics and Communication Engineering welcomed the gathering and addressed students about the importance of the society IEEE. , Dr. T. Chandrashekar, Principal given the presidential address and felicitated the chief guest . Major V.V. Chandrasekharan (Retd.) Hony. Secretary of IEEE Madras Section - 2012 and Student Activity Chair of IEEE Madras Section - 2011 & 2012 has inaugurated the student chapter of IEEE and delivered the valuable speech regarding the technical advancement and future trends in engineering. He also give a thorough explanation about the advantages of joining IEEE and usage of IEEE membership as an engineer. He has advised the student to enrich their technical knowledge and develop communication skill by participating in various programs such as seminars, symposium, workshops etc. to get successful placement during campus interviews.
