National Conference on Emerging Trends in Data Science and Technology by Dr. V. N. Mani, Principal Scientist-F & Additional Director, Dept of Electronics & Information Technology, Govt. of India on14.03.2018. Department of Information Technology and Computer Science & Engineering jointly organized a National Conference on Emerging Trends in Data Science & Technology (NCETDST ’18). This conference aims at bringing together researchers, academicians and industry professionals to exchange and share their experience and research contributions on all aspects of Data Science and Technology along with the tools and solutions emerged.

INSIGNIA’ 18

INSIGNIA’ 18, a National Level Technical Symposium was conducted by the Department of Information Technology of Velammal Institute of Technology, Panchetti on 11th August 2018 in a grand manner. Dr. B. Murugeswari, Head, Department of Information Technology welcomed the gathering. Dr. T. Chandrashekar, Principal, Velammal I Tech gave felicitation address in which he spoke about the opportunities and threats in IT industry in the contemporary age. Shri. Ajith Ugiprasad, Associate Director, CTS, in his Chief Guest address spoke about the benefits and growth in the IT industry in the future. The souvenir for the event was released by the Chief Guest along with other dignitaries. Various events were conducted to evaluate and motivate the students. Nearly 200 students from various colleges participated in the event and bagged prizes worth Rs. 50,000. Ms. P. Sailaja, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technology proposed Vote of Thanks.

INSIGNIA’ 16

On 16TH July, 2016 A 5th National level symposium called INSIGNIA ’16 was organized by Department of Information Technology, Velammal Institute of Technology, Chennai. The event started with a welcome note of MS M Suchithra, HOD-IT with thoughts on motto of the event and its deliverables by welcoming the gathering. Ms Kalaiselvi Raman, Associate director (Insurance), CTS, was the chief guest for the event. The presidential address was delivered by Dr T Chandrasekhar, Principal, Velammal I Tech with emphasize on the need for acquiring latest technology skill set to match the needs of the industry. The chief guest was felicitated as a token of gratitude by the principal. The chief guest Ms Kalaiselvi Raman shared her thoughts on evolvement of technologies over time and how technology drives the current business processes. The chief guest also spoke about the trending technologies and their essentiality to acquire those skills which has its diverse career opportunities in coming days.

‘Insignia 2015’,A National level Technical Symposium was held at Velammal Institute of Technology organized by the Department of Information Technology on 8th August 2015. The opening ceremony was started with a vibrant quote by Miss.Nithya with the gracious presence of the Chief Guest Shri.V.Krishnamurthy, Director-In-charge of NIELIT, Chennai centre and Dr.T.Chandrashekar, Principal Of Velammal I.Tech. The auspicious occasion begins with lighting the lamp, all the dignitaries on the dais were requested to light the lamp. Ms.M.Suchitra Head of the Department delivered the Welcome Address, followed by Presidential Address, by Dr.T.Chandrashekar, Principal of Velammal I.Tech. The guest was felicitated by the Principal as a token of gratitude. Shri.V.Krishnamurthy delivered the Guest Address and lectured on Cyber Security which turned out to be an eye opening session.
