The Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical & Electronics Engineering jointly organized a two-day national-level workshop titled “Bicycle Design Challenge” on 24 and 25 May 2025. The workshop was designed to provide engineering students with comprehensive knowledge of bicycle design, computer-aided engineering, reverse engineering, and product development through expert lectures and hands-on technical sessions. The event attracted enthusiastic participation from students representing various engineering institutions across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Maharashtra, thereby fostering interdisciplinary learning and technical collaboration. The CAD Modeling session was conducted by Mr. Armstrong, Former Chairman of SAEISS, who introduced participants to modern Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools and advanced modeling techniques used in the automotive and product design industries. Through interactive demonstrations, participants gained insights into the fundamentals of digital product design and engineering visualization. The technical session, titled “Bicycle – Fundamentals to Finished Product,” was delivered by Mr. T. Ramachandran, Assistant General Manager – Product Development, TI Cycles. He provided a comprehensive overview of the complete bicycle development process, covering conceptual design, material selection, structural considerations, manufacturing methodologies, quality assurance, and product commercialization. The session effectively connected engineering principles with industrial practices adopted by leading bicycle manufacturers.
