ICCII 2024 conference, organized collaboratively by the departments of Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical and Tool Engineering, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Velammal Institute of Technology on April 3, 2024, was a significant gathering aimed at fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange.  The Whole event was presided by our beloved Vice-Principal Dr. S. Soundararajan. The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. D. Magesh Babu, setting the tone for an intellectually stimulating day ahead. Dr. M.S. Heaven Dani eloquently articulated the importance of the conference, emphasizing its role in advancing research and innovation in the respective fields.

ICRACE’ 20 – International Conference on Research Advancements & Challenges in Engineering Sciences was conducted at Velammal Institute of Technology on 6 th& 7 th March 2020 on the college premises in a grand manner. Dr. S. Soundararajan, Principal extended warm welcome to all the participants. Prof. K. Razak, Advisor in his Presidential address, highlighted about the importance of learning new things and developing knowledge in various streams.

TRIDENT 2024, the prestigious National-level Technical symposium organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Department of Mechatronics Engineering on February 23, 2024, brought together students from various colleges for a day filled with innovation and intellect. Under the esteemed guidance of Principal Dr. N. Balaji, and with Dr. D. Magesh Babu, Head-Mechatronics delivering the welcoming address, the symposium provided a dynamic platform for students to showcase their technical prowess through presentations, demonstrations, and competitions. With Mr. Rajasekar, CEO of CDCE Automation and Robotics Pvt Ltd, as the chief guest, the event not only highlighted academic achievements but also bridged the gap between academia and industry.  Dr. M. Trident 2024 was a testament to the department’s commitment to fostering a culture of learning, innovation, and collaboration, empowering the next generation of mechanical engineers to excel in their endeavors and make meaningful contributions to the field.

The five-day Industrial Automation program was conducted for III Year Mechatronics and Mechanical Engineering students from August 19–23, 2024. Led by Mr. R. Ohmsakthi Vel, Assistant Professor, the event focused on building essential skills in industrial automation systems. The sessions introduced students to key automation technologies such as PLC programming, control systems, and sensor integration. Hands-on training allowed participants to gain practical experience in designing and managing automated workflows. Real-world scenarios, combined with live demonstrations, illustrated the applications of automation in modern industries, including manufacturing and robotics. Students explored ladder logic, troubleshooting techniques, and safety protocols, which are critical for industrial setups. The program emphasized bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industrial requirements, preparing students for roles in automation engineering. By the end, participants acquired valuable insights and skills, empowering them to tackle real-time industrial challenges and excel in their future careers.

The five-day program on Japanese Management Practices and Industrial Automation was held across multiple dates: January 27–29 and February 26–28, 2024. The event targeted III Year Mechatronics students, focusing on integrating effective management philosophies with industrial automation concepts. Mr. E. Muralidharan, Senior Manager at SMC Corporation, served as the resource person, sharing practical insights on Japanese methodologies like Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and quality control systems. Participants learned how these practices foster productivity, innovation, and cost efficiency in industries. Additionally, the sessions included interactive workshops on industrial automation tools, enabling students to design efficient production workflows. Practical applications of Kaizen principles in real-world manufacturing scenarios were discussed to inspire process optimization. The program encouraged students to adopt a results-driven mindset while incorporating technical knowledge for automation-based industries. By blending management philosophies with automation expertise, participants gained a holistic perspective on achieving operational excellence.

The six-day training program on Industrial Automation was conducted from July 17–22, 2023, for III and IV Year Mechatronics students. Resource person Mr. R. Ohmsakthi Vel, Assistant Professor, delivered comprehensive sessions on automation technologies, focusing on PLC programming, industrial sensors, and real-time control systems. Students were introduced to the fundamentals of automation and its significance in improving industrial efficiency and reducing human errors. The hands-on activities involved programming automation systems, troubleshooting errors, and integrating hardware and software components. Practical demonstrations showcased automation applications in industries such as manufacturing, robotics, and energy systems. Students learned to develop automated solutions for complex industrial processes, gaining exposure to tools widely used in industrial automation. By participating in this training, students enhanced their technical proficiency, preparing them for careers in smart factories and advanced manufacturing systems. The program successfully strengthened their problem-solving and automation design capabilities.
