Introduction to Computers and the Applications of Digital Tools in day-to-day life
27 NCC Cadets of Velammal Institute of Technology participated in a skill-based orientation session on the “Introduction to Computers and the Applications of Digital Tools in day-to-day life” held in the Government School, Panchetti on 06.09.2022. Digital technology makes it easy to stay in touch with friends, family, and even work remotely. Digital learning also helps students to foster ownership over their education. The programme inculcated the need for digital tools in everyday life. The school children participated with great enthusiasm and zeal and interacted actively. They ensured to study well and execute their duties responsibly. The NCC Cadets took part in the interactive session and the importance of digital tools in making learning more engaging and dynamic, providing easier access to information and multimedia resources were discussed.
Puneet Sagar Abhiyan
27 NCC Cadets of Velammal Institute of Technology cleant the nearby sites and the banks of the Puzhal dam, based on the theme “Puneet Sagar Abhiyan”. As an initiative of this theme, the NCC Cadets of our College collected and segregated the waste on 26.09.2022 respectively. The Cadets actively involved themselves in clearing out the waste and trash. They also created awareness amongst the local public in creating a clean and neat environment. A number of men and women from the nearby areas also participated in the event and contributed their part responsibly.The cleanliness campaign was aimed to clean the nearby water bodies and control pollution at the local sites. The campaign created awareness about the importance of keeping the seashores free from plastic wastes across the country.
Tree Plantation Program
The NCC unit of our college proudly organized the Tree Plantation Program at Andarkuppam Village on 02.12.2022 respectively. 52 NCC Cadets of Velammal Institute of Technology participated in the program. The Program was an initiative taken by our college on behalf of the National Pollution Control Day. Our beloved Principal gave an awareness talk on controlling and preventing pollution. The Cadets in turn assured to protect the environment through every possible means and foster the needs of the society. A number of plant saplings were planted by the NCC Cadets.
Banner March on Millet Awareness
The NCC Cadets of Velammal Institute of Technolgy actively participated in the Millet Awareness Campaign in our premises, followed by the Banner March on “Millet Awareness” from our College to Thachur Junction. 52 Cadets participated in the Program and the information shared in the Awareness Program would definitely be a huge eye opener to the public in the nearby areas. The public shared their immediate feedback and promoted the consumption of millets to make a healthier society. The program would definitely instil young minds to promote the growth of a number of small-scale industries that support the production and growth of millets in India. During the programme a number of cadets also opened their views in becoming entrepreneurs in food and spice industry.
Drive Against Drugs Awareness Campaign
The NCC Cadets of Velammal Institute of Technology actively participated in the Drive Against Drugs Awareness Campaign from our College to the Thachur Junction on 27.04.2023 respectively. 52 Cadets participated in the Program. They carried a number of placards and banners and marched in the nearby areas by propagating the difficulties and disadvantages of taking drugs. The usage of drugs among the youngsters is an alarmingly threatening problem in the current scenario. The program will open new vistas amongst students and the people around, in preventing and controlling drug usage at an initial threshold. The people encouraged the effort taken by the NCC Cadets and appreciated their innovative approach.
Tree Plantation Programme
The Tree Plantation Programme was successfully held on 07.04.2022 at the Chinnambedu Village. The NCC Cadets actively participated in the event and planted different species of plants with extremely good medicinal properties at Panchetti village and Chinnambedu village. Tree plantation is one of the most vital events that is to be adopted to bring a strong and a sustainable living. Every initiative taken towards developing the society has moulded the young minds towards fostering a dynamic society and a healthier environment. The local residents of the village helped the NCC Cadets in effectively planting a number of plant saplings. The NCC Cadets definitely brought an amazing change in transforming our planet by making it cleaner and greener.
Banner March on Elimination of Single Use Plastics
The NCC Cadets of Velammal Institute of Technology successfully participated in the Banner March on Elimination of Single Use Plastics at the Thachur Junction on 24.05.2022 respectively. 52 Cadets from the college took part in the rally and created awareness on avoiding the usage of plastics in day-to-day life. The public gathered around, raised their queries on selection and utilization of higher-grade plastics. Reducing the use of plastics is essential because it prevents pollution and reduces the demand for fossil fuel consumption while saving natural resources and energy. The programme was a huge eye opener to the people in the nearby localities.
Tree Plantation Pakhwada
The NCC Cadets of Velammal Institute of Technology actively participated in the Tree Plantation Pakhwada on 13.07.2020. Due to Lockdown, the students successfully planted a number of saplings in their own localities. The students live around different cities and villages in Tamil Nadu including Chennai, Madurai, Trichy, Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli. Villupuram and Thoothukudi. The Covid protocol measures were followed and the students carefully involved themselves in making the planet greener and cleaner. Tree plantation is one of the most important measures that is to be adopted to bring a healthy and a sustainable living. The NCC Cadets definitely brought a stupendous change in transforming our planet.
Swachtta Pakhwada
The Swachtta Pakhwada Activities were carried out between 01.12.2020 and 15.12.2020 by the NCC Cadets of Velammal Institute of Technology. The students actively involved themselves in cleaning the trash and dump from the reefs of Puzhal lake. The NCC Cadets also created awareness on the prevention of plastics to the people around. The people in the nearby areas actively participated in the programme and helped in creating a plastic free environment. They also segregated the waste into degradable and non-degradable waste and collected them separately. The Swachtta Pakhwada activities initiated by the Government is a wholesome journey towards bringing a cleaner and greener society.
Swachhta Pakhwada – Temple Cleaning Activity
The NCC Cadets of Velammal Institute of Technology actively engaged themselves in the Swachhta Pakhwada – Temple Cleaning Activity on 11.02.2021. They played a major role in responsibly cleaning the traditional sites and thereby, appreciated the tradition of our country. Some of the temples in our locality requires such cleaning activities in a regular basis. The temple authorities appreciated and applauded the interests taken by the NCC Cadets of our College in cleaning the temples. The students were encouraged by the local residents of the area for their activities.
Nukkad Nataks
The NCC Wing of Velammal Institute of Technology proudly organised the “Nukkad Nataks” on 25.09.2019 at Thachur junction. The NCC Cadets, counting 33 in number emphasized the need for cleanliness and plastic waste management through street plays in the programme. The need for cleanliness was demonstrated live by the NCC Unit through an organized Rally which enumerated the benefits of a plastic free society. The street plays organized by the Cadets gained good recognition and created tremendous awareness amongst all people around. The people in the nearby areas actively participated in the event and shared their feedback.
Tree Plantation Programme
The Tree Plantation Programme was successfully held on 22.02.2020 at selected areas in the nearby Panchetti village. 52 NCC Cadets participated in the event and different species of plants with extremely good medicinal properties were planted at selected localities in the village. Our Principal Sir initiated the programme by planting few plant saplings. The initiative taken was largely applauded by the public towards the societal care and concern shown by the students in nurturing the environment. The NCC Cadets also enthusiastically planted a number of saplings and restored back a greener and cleaner environment. A number of youngsters also actively participated in the event and planted a few saplings. The saplings would definitely bring fresh oxygen and bestow us with a healthy environment.
International Drug Day Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
Velammal Institute of Technology proudly participated in the Awareness program on the “International Drug Day Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” at the Government High School at Panchetti on 26.06.2018 Discussions on Drug abuse and Illicit Trafficking were held among the youngsters through public talking, discussions and feedback. An Awareness talk was given to the nearby Government school students about Drug abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The students interacted most enthusiastically and shared their feedback. The NCC Cadets carried several placards, banners, and signboards emphasizing the importance of Drug Abuse and its effects. More than 150 school students and a few School teachers attended the event and shared their feedback.
SWACHH BHARAT- CLEAN INDIA-GREEN INDIA
The NCC Cadets actively participated in the “Swacch Bharat Abhiyan – The Cleaning Campaign” around the Thachur Junction at Panchetti village on 14.02.2019. During this campaign, emphasis was laid on the students and the neighborhood community on the importance of CLEAN INDIA-GREEN INDIA. The NCC Cadets carried several placards, banners, and sign boards emphasizing the importance of the SWACHH BHARAT cleaning campaign. The rally created remarkable awareness amongst the public in the rural areas of Panchetti. The people in the nearby areas ensured to keep their areas clean and green.
Tree Plantation Programme
The NCC Cadets of our college proudly organized the “Tree Plantation Programme” at selected localities of the nearby Panchetti village on 25.02.2019. Medicinal plants like Malai Vembu and Poovarasan were selected and planted in large numbers. The medicinal species have wide applications in the treatment of dengue and ulcers. Our Principal Sir planted a few saplings and motivated the students and the public to plant several plant saplings in their lifetime. The NCC Volunteers actively engaged the youngsters in the nearby areas and motivated them to produce sustainability and promote the goodness of Mother Earth.
